Business Heads to Port Washington Blvd.

Look for new shops and an eatery at Port Commons.

Port Commons, a shopping strip on Port Washington Blvd., recently experienced a makeover, and now it’s attracting some new faces.

According to landlord Victor Musso, the strip has undergone new landscaping, a new façade, new roofing and new drainage, along with a few other adjustments. That's bringing Port Commons a flurry of new tenants.

The rumors are true – Smashburger, a popular and growing burger franchise, is in fact coming to Port Washington Blvd. The store has already signed a lease and started construction on the spot adjacent to Rite Aid about 90 days ago. Set to open mid-August, landlord Musso has high hopes for the restaurant.

“I think the town’s really going to love it,” he said.

Owner and operator Irwin Kruger is also excited about the opening of the burger place.

"I absolutely love the area," he said. "The location is very centrally located, near the center of town, the school and the train station."

The chain has received good responses from its oher locations, Kruger said, and he hopes to see the same in Port Washington. Even though he just put up signs Wednesday, he said he's already seen some interest in the store.

is also moving to the boulevard. The shop will be leaving its current Main St. spot to move to Port Commons in early August.

And for all the yoga lovers, has also moved its storefront, though not so much. The yoga studio has moved from its first floor location to the second floor of the building.

“It’s a bigger space, and more open,” said Dena Vigilis, co-owner of Yoga Life. “Being on the second floor also gives us some more privacy.”

Sunny Nails recently opened here, and North Shore Wine & Liquor as well as
Hand and Stone Spa are expected to open on this strip soon.

The new additions and appearance, along with extended parking meters times from one hour meters to two hour meters, have residents buzzing about the new life this mix is bringing to the boulevard.
