Pelosi Visits Wit & Whim in Port Washington

The shop is embracing a philanthropic collaboration "Teach Tolerance…Give Back."

Democratic Leader and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Rep.  Steve Israel, and Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney made a special stop in Port Washington to peruse the eclectic gift selections at Wit & Whim on Thursday.

Pelosi is speaking Friday at Carlyle on the Green at Bethpage State Park at gala celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth.
Wit & Whim owner Laurie Scheinman is a long-time supporter of LIGALY and co-president of the Long Island Gay PTA, the first and only one of its kind in the nation.

Right now, Wit & Whim is embracing a philanthropic collaboration “Teach Tolerance…Give Back,” where proceeds from the shop will support  Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth’s  (LIGALY) “Safe School Initiative” program throughout May.

Run by LIGALY, “Safe School Initiative” offers anti-GLBT bullying services and programs to help students and staff create a school culture that promotes support, understanding, and respect for GLBT youth, families, and educators. LIGALY implements the programs of the “Safe School Initiative” through collaborative partnerships with more than 100 school districts throughout the Nassau and Suffolk Counties of Long Island.
