Port Washington Bicycles Grand Opening

Port Washington Bicycles celebrates its new location and ownership in style.

Soundview Marketplace is the new location for , yet this retailer has long been a vital part of the community.

The store opened its doors in 1967 at its former Port Washington Boulevard location as “Port Washington Cyclery” and has served generations of Port Washington residents over the years. This past March, the shop's founders Vincent and Mary Bandoian retired as owners, with Ralph Intintoli stepping up as principal.

Intintoli moved the store from Port Washington Boulevard to Soundview Marketplace, adjacent to .

"The new location is working very well," Intintoli said, noting that neighboring retailers in the shopping center helped bring in foot traffic.

"It's a very nice new location," said Mary Bendoian, who now works at the shop part time.

The store held its grand opening on July 16. King Kullen served up free Boars Head hot dogs, along with soda and cannolis. Customers went home with free draw-string backpacks and a 15-percent off coupons for all accessories, good until July 24. They also had the chance to  also enter their names for a raffle prize to win a Schwinn bicycle or heart rate monitor.
