Steve's Barbershop Moves to New Location

After fire earlier this year, business settles in to permanent location.

After a fire earlier this year, a longtime Main Street barbershop has found a permanent home in Port Washington.

Now at 24A Main Street, Steve's Barbershop is settling in to its new surroundings after moving in Oct. 1.

Shop owner Steve Aminoz said he's very happy with the new location.

"That's gonna be until I retire," said Steve Aminov, who has owned the Port Washington business for 13 years.

The barbershop was located on Herbert Avenue for 12 years, where Aminov worked to build its success.

In March, three businesses and the occupants of 11 apartments above them were displaced as a result of the stubborn, wind-swept blaze at the Fleming Building which housed Steve's former location. It took 150 firefighters and 40 pieces of fire apparatus from Port Washington and five nearby communities to put down the blaze.

Just a few weeks after the devastating fire, Steve's re-opened at 38 Main St., across from the Port Washington Diner.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 516-767-0397 for information or to schedule an appointment.
