Senate Bill to Take Action Against Airplane Noise

I urge Governor Cuomo to sign NY State Senate Bill 3841 regarding airplane noise.

Airplane noise and flight patterns have been a major cause of concern over the past few years. Residents of our town, which according to CNN Money Magazine is one of the Top 50 “Places to Live in America,” should not be subjected to the stress caused by noise pollution.

In a letter sent on August 29th, 2013, I urged Governor Cuomo to sign Senate Bill 3841. The Bill would require the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to conduct a noise and land use compatibility survey and biennial public hearings regarding aircraft noise. It would allow for public input and a survey to measure the impact the airplanes have on our communities. Once the analysis is complete, noise mitigations strategies would be developed and implemented.

Legislator Nicolello and Senator Martins have also urged that Governor Cuomo sign the Bill into law.
