Town Board refuses to approve Budget before Election

There is no good reason for the North Hempstead Town Board to have voted to delay the 2014 Budget approval until after the November 5th election, other than that they are planning to change it when the voters aren't paying attention...and avoid accountability in the process.

They have done this before: proposing a budget that meets the tax cap before November election, and then voting to amend it higher and pierce the tax cap after the election.

The move stinks. And, bottom line, we can't trust them.
They voted down my resolution, seconded by Councilman Angelo Ferrara, to vote now. It is also not right that an unelected, acting Supervisor, Riordan, should get a vote, giving them a majority.

I believe that this is not a partisan issue--it's an issue of transparency and honest, accountable government.
If elected as your Supervisor, I will change this practice immediately, and allow you to know where your elected officials stand BEFORE THE ELECTION.
Thank you,
Dina
