Aug. 17: Civil War, Art and Main Street Clean-Up

Happenings in the area.

1. Today at the :  lecture will be held in the community room at 7 p.m. Civil War re-enactor, author and retired Senior Curator of History for the Nassau County museum system, Harrison Hunt, commemorates the 150th anniversary of the war by examining Long Island's role.

2.  sets up shop today from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christopher Morley Park on Searingtown Road. The market runs weekly on Wednesday through Nov. 23.

3. : Residents are invited to help clean up Main Street Port Washington today at 9 a.m. at Blumenfeld Family Park. Lululemon of Manhasset invites volunteers for a free yoga class at 8 a.m. before last clean-up of the summer.

4. The Richard Avedon: Photographer of Influence exhibit is open from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. today at the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn.
