Flash Flood Watch Issued

Weather Service warns of heavy rains into Saturday.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea could cause flash flooding in the Port Washington area, the National Weather Service said Thursday.

A watch was issued for Friday morning at 3:44 a.m. until Saturday at 2 p.m.

Rainfall is expected to total 2 to 4 inches, with maximum hourly totals of 1 to 2 inches.

The heaviest rain is expected between Friday afternoon and early Saturday.

The totals could lead to "flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas as well as small stream flash flooding," the weather service said.

Andrea is the first named storm of the Atlantic season.
