Keeping the the MTA and LIRR on Track

There have been two high profile derailments on area tracks in recent months. Are you concerned about the condition of the rails?

Riding on the Long Island Rail Road has not been easy since Monday night.

A train derailment Monday night has led to a slew of train cancellations and service changes.

The accident occurred in an Amtrak tunnel on the East River and fortunately, nobody was hurt.

That's a far cry from what happened a month ago on MTA tracks in Connecticut. More than 50 people were hurt when a train derailed near the Metro-North station in Fairfield Connecticut.

The National Transportation Safety Board found a broken track at the scene.
