LIRR: Delays and Crowded Trains for Commute Home

Many trains canceled, others delayed 10-20 minutes.

If you are traveling to or from Port Washington by on Monday afternoon, expect 10-to-20 minute delays, and crowded trains.

The LIRR says it is canceling 20 eastbound trains during the afternoon commute, including on the Port Washington line. Already the LIRR is reporting that it is combining trains for Monday's afternoon rush.

Westbound service to Penn Station on the Port Washington Branch will end at Woodside beginning approximately 4:30 p.m., according to the LIRR. From Woodside, passengers can pick up the No. 7 subway into Manhattan.

For a complete list of train cancelations, visit the MTA website. Delays and cancelations are expected to continue through Wednesday, May 11, at the very least. 

The derailment was caused by an Amtrak derailment blocking one of the East River tunnels and the clearing of equipment and assessing and repairing track and signal damage, according to the MTA.
