LIRR: Extra Trains Friday for Holiday Weekend
The railroad will operate on a weekend schedule July 2-4.
The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional early-afternoon service from Penn Station on Friday, July 1 for customers planning an early getaway for the start of the Independence Day holiday.
Long Island Rail Road passengers hoping to escape the city a little early on Friday before the July 4 holiday weekend are in luck. The LIRR is adding extra trains Friday. It will operate on a weekend schedule however, July 2-3 and a holiday/weekend schedule on July 4.
On the Port Washington line, the LIRR is adding the following trains:

- 3:18 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main Street, then all stops to Port Washington.
- 3:40 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main Street, then all stops to Great Neck.
