AC Failure Cancels Library Programs

Syosset Library has officially canceled programs for the next month as it waits for new air conditioning parts to arrive.  According to the Syosset Public Library website, all programs through June 24 have been canceled "due to lack of air conditioning." The heat has been getting to library-dwellers as temperatures rise outside.

'Larkfield' to Reopen After Major Renovations


The Larkfield, formerly known as Larkfield Manor, will reopen in July after a sweeping $8 million renovation.  A wedding and event staple in East Northport for more than 30 years, Larkfield Manor closed its doors in October to bring itself into the 21st century.

Winner Declared in Lawrence School Board Recount

Nine days after Lawrence School District residents cast their votes for school board member, the district on Thursday officially declared Tova Plaut the winner.
She the first woman to serve on the board in several years. “The voters of our community have chosen me as their representative and I will work diligently to help create a positive environment for our children and families.” A poll worker incorrectly tallying the official numbers the night of the election led to Jesse Lunin-Pack being declared the winner in the race against Plaut and Dov Herman. Two recounts confirmed what many poll watchers knew last Tuesday: that Plaut had won with a 37-vote advantage.

Levittown Golfer Wins NCAA Championship

She's only a freshman in college, but Levittown native Annie Park can play with the best of them.  Park won the NCAA Women's Individual Title last week in convincing fashion, finishing 10 strokes under par and helping the No. 1 ranked USC Trojans women's golf team win the NCAA National Championship.
