New LIRR Schedule Takes Effect in Port Nov. 19

LIRR will add a train on Friday afternoons from November through March.

The Long Island Rail Road is adding a train to the Port Washington line on Friday afternoons to accommodate commuters who need to return home before sundown for religious purposes.

This "sundown service" is in response to requests from customers who travel home on Fridays before sunset in the winter when the sun sets early. LIRR will run the additional train beginning Nov. 19 though early March.

The Friday-only train leaves Penn Station at 3:18 p.m., making  all local stops to Port Washington. The train arrives in Port Washington at 4:03 p.m.
