Nov. 2: Get Out and Vote

Doings around Port Washington.

Tuesday means Election Day, coat donations, Kirk Douglas, and golf.

1. Remember to vote. Be sure to read up on the candidates before hitting the poles.

2. Tuesday marks the second day of Port Washington's community coat drive. Bring your gently used coats, hats, scarves,  boots and blankets in good condition to the former Little Gym location at the Soundview Marketplace. For more information or to volunteer contact Paula Whitman  (whitman1@optonline.net)  or Linda Weil (weil@optonline.net). Coats will be distributed Nov. 4 through Nov. 6.

3. Catch "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers," the 1946 film. It stars Barbara Stanwyck and Kirk Douglas, and features an old romance and the possibility of murder. Show time is 7:30 p.m. at . 

4. Sign up for Port Washington Youth Activities (PYA) for its winter basketball (Grades K to 7) and wrestling programs (ages 8 to 15). Applications are due Nov. 20. Get the details

5. Bundle up and hit the golf course. On Tuesdays runs a clinic featuring short game basics – putting and chipping.
