Nov. 24: No School, An Interfaith Thanksgiving Day Service and A Chance to Volunteer

Doings around Port Washington.

Wednesday is all about giving back, taking time off, and signing up for the turkey trot.

1. Wednesday brings us the Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve Service, a tradition dating back to 1940. It takes place at , at 8 p.m. The Thanksgiving message will be delivered by Reverend Barbara Hutchinson, interim Rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.  Temple Beth Israel's Cantor Baruch Blum will lead the assembly in singing "Let There Be Peace On Earth." All welcome.  Learn more. 

2. Port Washington schools are closed. Enjoy the holiday!

3. There's still time to sign up for the Port Washington Thanksgiving Day 5-mile Run. Registration closes at 6 p.m.

4. The  is looking for volunteers. Its motto: "Neighbors Helping Neighbors." For more about the fire department, click here.

5. Over at the , it's bridge from 9:15 a.m. to 12 p.m., drawing from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and tai chi from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
