Question of the Day: What Do You Think of the School Budget Passing?

Do you agree with the approving vote of Port Washington's 2011-2012 budget?

The Port Washington School District’s 2011-2012 budget, which is approximately $130.9 million, with a tally of 3,064 yes votes and 1,848 no votes. With this approval, the budget-to-budget increase over the previous year is 2.96 percent and local property taxes will rise 3.95 percent.

According to district superintendent Dr. Geoffrey Gordon, much of the new spending was due to state aid cutbacks, rising pension costs for the district and unfunded mandates.
