Rain Or Shine, Port Night Out Is On

A roundup of activities slated for Wednesday.

Wednesday begins the first of two special nights on the peninsula. Rain or shine, Port Night Out will go on, featuring family entertainment, food, holiday shopping and more. 

Wednesday's event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. Here are just some highlights of the evening, and don't forget the umbrella! 

Patch will be at , 282 Main Street. Stop by and say hello – and enjoy some hot chocolate on us!

Another stop on your list might be , at 232 Main Street, which is extending box office hours to 8:30 p.m. Stop by to hear free holiday music by high school student Colleen Stack, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Stack has participated in more than 80 concerts. It's the chance to enjoy some music and also pick up tickets for the music or theater-lover on your gift list. 

Across the street at the , The Friends of the Library will provide refreshments and offer discounted tote bags, backpacks and note cards. Also worth noting: library fines will be forgiven as long as materials are returned.

Head over to , at 166 Main Street, for a performance by – a local Port resident and former member of the British band, The Strawbs. Ford will perform two acoustic sets, with the first one starting between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Stop by the , 35 Main Street, for a speakeasy, featuring live jazz and drinks. And , 24b Main Street, will bring traditional Thai dancing. 

For holiday music and caroling, stop by  and hear the Chamber Group,  which will perform indoors until 6:30 p.m.

Santa will be around also so keep your eyes open and have your picture taken with him. You can find him at , located at 22 Main Street.

Treat the kids to story time at, at 299 Main Street. Christmas story time is from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Hanukkah story time and songs are from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., sponsored by The Reconstructionist Synagogue of the North Shore. Also  is hosting story time from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Also featured: cider and cookies plus a very special Angel Tree Program for homeless shelters.

If you're in need of a snack,  at 5B Irma Avenue is offering free samples of hot chocolate and bakery treats.

Stores and restaurants are offering specials, such as hot chocolate, candy canes, cookies, egg nog, latkes and free face painting. There's another Port Night Out scheduled for Dec. 15. Get more details.
