Staying Safe on The Peninsula This Holiday Season

Travel tips in and around Port Washington.

In this holiday season with heavy traffic expected, and out of town visitors who are not familiar with the roads on the Port Washington peninsula, it is critical to obey all traffic safety laws.

Please observe the following:

  • Note that additional red light cameras are being installed on Route 25 (Northern Boulevard) at the three places where it intersects with Port Washington Boulevard/Searington Road, Shelter Rock Road and Glen Cove Road.
  • Do not park on driveway aprons, as it blocks access for children in strollers and those in wheelchairs.
  • Do not park within 30 feet in front of a stop sign as the sign will not be visible.
  • Note that cell phone use, speeding and u-turns are triggering high summons levels.
  • Do not drink and drive.
