Three North Shore LIJ Hospitals Listed as Top Performers

North Shore University Hospital, Plainview Hospital and Southside Hospital made the list compiled by the Joint Commission.

Three North Shore-LIJ Health System hospitals on Long Island were recently listed as national top performers in certain areas according to The Joint Commission, a healthcare organization accreditor, a press release said. These hospitals are Plainview Hospital, Southside Hospital and North Shore University Hospital.

The criteria to reach this achievement was based on data about evidence-based clinical processes that improve care for conditions such as heart failure, pneumonia and children's asthma, among others, according to the press release. These three hospitals were among eight in the state to be considered among the Joint Commission's first list; there were 405 hospitals in the U.S. who met or surpassed the criteria.

“We understand that safe, effective care is what matters most to patients,” Michael Dowling, president and chief executive officer of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, said in a statement. “That’s why the health system has made a commitment to accreditation and positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes.  I applaud the efforts of the clinical teams at North Shore, Plainview and Southside for being recognized nationally for their performance and delivering the highest level of patient care.”
