DeRiggi-Whitton Wins 11th LD Race

Democratic incumbent will serve in newly drawn district.

Incumbent Democrat Delia DeRiggi-Whitton has defeated Republican challenger John P. DiMascio in Nassau County's race for the newly drawn 11th district, according to unofficial results from the Nassau County Board of Elections.

With all districts reporting, DeRiggi-Whitton received 3,745 votes while DiMascio obtained 3,420. Green Party candidate Stephen P. Sloane received 99 votes.

De Riggi-Whitton is currently serving her first term in the 18th district. She will serve as legislator of the newly-formed 11th district in the new year. She served two terms as a member of the Glen Cove City Council. A 1986 Glen Cove High School graduate, she is a graduate of Hofstra University and the mother of three daughters.

The 11th LD covers Sands Point, Port Washington, Roslyn, Roslyn Harbor, Glen Head, Glenwood, Sea Cliff and Glen Cove.
