Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion

Beginning at 10:30pm, the congregation's magnificent (they ought to be on "American Idol) choir, under the direction of Federico Teti, presents part 1 of Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols."  At 11:00pm, under the warm glow of candlelight, the Holy Eucharist for the Eve of the Nativity begins.  You'll hear music by Bach and the Choir singing Handel's "O Thou, that Tellest Glad Tidings to Zion" with Doris M. Whittemore as the contralto soloist.  You'll sing carols and hear the traditional "good news" scriptures from Isaiah, Titus, and St. Luke.  You'll pray for global and national peace and peace in our communities and homes.   You'll participate in the Holy Meal.  Gluten-free and grape juice available for those allergic.  Other special music includes Dr. Isadore Horowitz's violin solo, "O Holy Night," and Eliza & Christian Carrington's classical guitar duet, "Silent Night, Holy Night!"  All are welcome.http://www.lutheranchurchportwashington.com/
