The Sands-Willets House  is "Your Home for the Holidays!  Come enjoy our new Quilt Exhibit The Art of Quilting: Fibers, Fabrics, and Fashion.

Families will enjoy our new "Elf's Workshop with art and crafts and storytelling for the entire family!

Plans have been announced for the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society's Holiday
Fair.

Decorated with ornaments, greenery and bows for the annual event, the Sands-Willets House at 336 Port Washington
Blvd. will feature live music in the parlor and caroling on
the open porch with hot spiced cider and a “Cookie
Holiday Tree.”

The Holiday Fair will include the debut of a brand new exhibit: The
Art of Quilting: Fibers, Fabrics & Fashion,
featuring hundreds of years of
quilting styles. More than 50 quilts and coverlets from the CNPHS collection will be on
display, including cotton patchwork quilts, a unique Trapunto quilt, a flour sack
quilt, crazy quilts of velvets and silks, a flag quilt and woven
coverlets.

The double living room will be resplendent with special gift items, including
hand pressed floral stationery, tiny chenille animals and miniature
holiday oil paintings.

On the
porch, fresh greenery wreaths will be available for sale with the option to add
special bows and ornaments. Specialty hand-created wreaths will adorn the
windows of the house and will also be for sale.

The “Cow Neck Café” in the Sands-Willets Dining Room will be serving
soups and crusty hot bread. Plus visit bakery table will serve
up home-made treats and holiday cookies to eat or take home.

New this year will be the Elf’s Workshop for kids and families. The
workshop includes crafts and activities for families. Help make a life
size “paper quilt” or a special orange and clove pomander ornament.
There will
be story hour with the Elves at select times. Resident artists Larry and
Lynne Chrapliwy will be available to demonstrate painting and they will
work
on a special torn paper craft with the children, as well as cookie
decorating.

Admission is free to the event which runs Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

And best of all, the money raised at the Holiday Fair helps the Cow Neck
Peninsula Historical Society to keep history alive by raising funds to
maintain both the Sands-Willets (ca. 1735) and the Thomas Dodge House
(ca. 1721) and support our educational programming.
