Standardized

Landmark on Main
Street
is pleased to conclude its 2013-14 Season Conversations From Main
Street Series on Wednesday April 30 at 7:30 pm with a screening of
“Standardized” followed by a discussion with experts.  Free admission to this and all Conversations
From Main Street event is made possible through a generous grant from the
Angela & Scott Jaggar Foundation.

For decades, standardized testing has been a part of public education. Within the last ten years, however, the testing has taken on a more important, and possibly more damaging, role. Test scores, mistakenly viewed as effective assessments of student ability and teacher/school effectiveness, are anything but. STANDARDIZED sheds light on the invalid nature of these tests, the terrible consequences of high-stakes testing, and the big money that's involved.

Landmark on Main Street's Conversations From Main Street Series continues with a public showing of the film Standardized followed by a panel discussion with experts:

  • Dr. Mark Naison, Badass Teachers Association and Professor, Fordham University
  • Jeanette

    Deutermann, Long Island Opt Out
  • Dr.

Joseph Rella, Superintendent of Comsewogue School

    District
