Village Day Fall Festival at Sands Point Preserve

Autumn brings the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve’s 6th Annual Village Day Fall Festival on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 pm, rain date: October 6.

The fall harvest season will be celebrated on the Great Lawn overlooking the Long Islands Sound - with fun, outdoor activities for guests of all ages, including a petting zoo – with sheep, llama, frizzle chickens, crested ducks, and a herd of ponies; hayrides around the Great Lawn – perfect for seeing the early fall foliage; pumpkin painting for budding artists; a Green Grocer with wonderful items, including award-winning artisanal cheeses, famous Horman pickles, and Jericho Mills apples and cider. DiMaggio’s delicious pizza and a variety of refreshments will be available.

The Preserve’s honeybees have been busily pollinating the grounds since the Honeybee Apiary was established last year.  In the last session of the Bee Whispering Program, participants helped extract gallons of fresh honey from the hives, so Guggenheim Estate Golden Honey will be available for sale.
