Eagle Scout Project to Benefit United Methodist Church
Local Teen’s Eagle Scout Project Kicks Off
Ryan Ferguson, 17, a senior at Schreiber High School and a member of Boy Scout Venture Crew 556, announces the kick off of his Eagle Scout project, Cars4Scouts. He hopes to raise money towards a desperately needed renovation of the community room at the United Methodist Church of Port Washington. The renovations will include soundproofing with environmentally safe materials. “I’ve been going to scout activities at the church since I was 3 and my older brother joined scouts. The church has always been there for the community and I want to help restore the community room so that the people of Port Washington can continue to benefit from it,” said Ryan when asked about why he chose this particular project.
Donations of cars, trucks, RV’s, boat and motorcycles are being accepted. Every donor will be provided with an IRS tax deductible receipt for the retail value of the donated vehicle. Every person who buys one of these vehicles will be contributing to the refurbishment of a room which is widely used by many local groups and organizations, including Child World Pre-school, the Community Chest (the Souper Bowl is held there), various scouting groups and the Board of Elections.
Monetary donations are also being accepted and tax receipts will be provided. All funds raised will be used for the project.
As part of his fundraising efforts, Ryan will be participating in the for charity Mustang Club of America (MCA) Car Show on the Beach (http://www.mustangsatthebeach.com ) to be held at the Sands Point Preserve on May 19 and May 20. He, along with volunteers, will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, meatball heroes and Italian ices with all proceeds going towards his project. When you come down to the Preserve to see the awesome cars on display, stop by the Cars4Scouts.org table and enjoy some lunch or just wish Ryan luck.
