Fall Events at Parent Resource Center in Port Washington

There are new happenings at the Parent Resource Center. Here's the lineup"

On Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a..m.-12 p.m., the PRC will hold an open house for members and nonmembers alike to learn more about this family organization. 

Other events include:

• Preschool Fair, Oct. 11, 7-9 p.m.

Come meet many of the schools in Port Washington and the surrounding towns and get a jump on early registration for the 2013-14 school term. The event will be held in the Landmark Gymnasium.

• Annual Halloween Fair, Oct, 27, 10am-1pm

Held in Blumenfeld Park next to the Landmark on Main Street building (rain location is in the Landmark gym). There will be a free concert with admission, games, crafts, and a petting zoo (weather permitting).

• Fall Social, Nov. 11, 8 p.m.-12 a.m.

This adult-only event is a way for parents to get out as a couple and enjoy food, friendship and cocktails. Location and details to be announced.

For more than 30 years the Port Washington Parent Resource Center, a parent led co-operative, has been a cornerstone in the community. The PRC offers classes in music, art, dance and a variety of other areas. The PRC also offers many social opportunities for parents, family activities and events, and a place for new families to find support.

The PRC boasts professionally taught classes with trained experts in their respective fields but the remainder of the organization is almost completely run by members.

“There are countless ways to participate and many of them can be done at home and on the member’s own time. It is a very easy commitment to fulfill,” said Lisa Grossman, executive director of the PRC.

“There is such a diversity of skill and talents that our members bring and we are so proud these talents make the PRC the first choice for families in the Port Washington area,” she added. "The PRC views the participation of its members a key to success and offers an opportunity of its members to connect with each other and the community."
