Wit & Whim Names Community Chest 'Charity of The Month'

Port Washington’s wit & whim has selected Community Chest of Port Washington as its “Charity of the Month” for July. The shop, which offers one-of-a-kind items, says it donates proceeds to a different nonprofit each month.

To kick off this month’s effort, wit & whim is hosting a “celebratory cocktail reception” for Community Chest on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at Six Carlton Avenue (across from Shish Kebab).

The Community Chest awards grants to 25 local charities whose funded programs serve close to 10,000 people, or one in three Port residents. Grants from the Community Chest provide deliver to Port Washington a range of needed services, including  social and nutritional programs for seniors, leadership programs and scholarships for children, youth and veterans,  job training, college scholarships, food distribution, childcare and parenting education, cultural enrichment scholarships and more.
