Tree Lighting Committee Encouraging Community Participation

Annual event set for Dec. 8 at Blumenfeld Park in Port Washington.

Port Washington residents are encouraged to join together for the 16th annual Christmas Tree Lighting to be held Dec. 8

A large turnout is expected to enjoy the choral music, live nativity scene and pageant at the Blumenfeld Park on Main Street in Port Washington, according to Tree Lighting Committee members.

Starting at 4:30 p.m., attendees will sing traditional carols of the season. Hot drinks and refreshments will be available along with tree ornaments and Santa for a children's meet-and-greet.

Committee members are asking local residents and organizations to help with donations by Nov. 26. All donors will be recognized at the event and in press releases.

Checks should be made payable to the P.W. Tree Lighting and sent to the Christmas Tree Lighting Committee care of Falconer Florist, 8 South Maryland Ave., Port Washington, N.Y.  11050.

Additionally, the committee is looking for volunteers to help set up and break down tables. Contact Claudia at (516) 883-7849 if interested.
