Parents teaching their children

just a simple request from a Bike rider, runner, jogger and Driver.

Noticed something today, actually, I notice it all the time and today, I wanted to send a Shout-Out to those parents, yes, you know who you are. The parents driving the SUV, mini-vanny thingys. You all know the one I'm mentioning here. The ones with the Pride in Port and My child’s an honor student stickers on the back of the auto. Come on, you know who I am pointing my finger at- they have the 5 family Stick figures on the back arranged in tallest to shortest and then include the Stick dog- ring bells yet. Good. Here is to you moms and dads toting your kids around from one great activity to another teaching your kids while you drive:

Things you’re teaching them......................

Slowing down and not actually stopping at a stop signs- Don't worry, that guy on his bike (It was me you just missed BTW) or that jogger can run around you.

Seatbelts- nah, don't need 'em as we stop every 10 feet for one activity or another. I know they aren't on because Jimmy or Sally is sitting reversed in their seat waving at me.

Those white signs with numbers on them every so often on the side of the road ….mean nothing, in fact, didn’t see’em. Same thing with those pesky lines on the road.

Here's the one I love most: Owners of the SUV, mini-vanny thingys. - you should consider taking it back to Service and complaining about that stick thing on the left side of the steering wheel....hmmm, that indicates to those in FRONT as well as BEHIND you, that you know where you’re going and when you want to turn.....doesn't work. Er, hmmm- wait, that didn't come out right. Sigh, nevermind.

All I am asking is for you to consider the next generation of drivers- they are learning by watching you as they sit in the back seat. You get angry and scream and point fingers and then lean on the HORN they will be the same way.

I will share with you what I learned from a defensive drivers course….YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT KIND OF DAY THAT OTHER DRIVER HAS HAD.

Thanks for listening
