Several weeks ago the Town of North Hempstead held what many in attendance felt was going to be an informative meeting and presentation about possible proossed changes to parts of Main Street.
Unfortunately the ToNH did not feel an informative presentation was important. This seemd to surprise those in attendance who clearly expected more from the ToNH panel. At this point I am not in favor or against anythng that was propossed due to the lack of information and important facts. I feel that everyone concerned was bamboozeled by the poorly run meeting. Compounding my anger was the terrible video which the Town decided to post on line. The very poor quality and edited version of the meeting was an insult to those who wanted but could not be at the meeting or those who had to leave early.
Judging from the blogs and comments on the Patch there seems to be a lot of problems along Main Street which should be looked into before residents can expect a rezoning or beautification project to go through and be successful. Residents have expressed their concerns about traffic, garbage, parking and other issues which will only get worse if left as they are. These are problems which should be targeted before the Town can expect a rezoning proposal would look favorable to residents. It has become quite clear that residents take this proposal more seriously then the ToNh does.
