Nassau County Leg. Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) was at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Manhasset on Friday, June 14, for the presentation, “Empowering Seniors to Prevent Financial Elder-Abuse,” organized by John Ryan and Peter Janowsky of Ryan-Janowsky Wealth Management Group and presented by the Town of North Hempstead's Project Independence, the Great Neck Senior Center and Janney Montgomery Scott.  The day aimed to focus attention on this problem and to empower attendees with the challenges they face.

As the event was held on Flag Day, Leg. Bosworth made a connection between the ideals of the holiday and the freedom to which our seniors are entitled as Americans.

“Today is a great reminder of what our flag stands for and of our Democratic ideals,” she said.  “We are the land of the free and the home of the brave, and we should live in safety and security.  By coming here today, you are all taking a step towards protecting yourself against those who look to financially exploit seniors.”
