Port Washington Doctor Appointed to National Medical Advisory Board

Dr. Lee Tessler named to Voices Against Brain Cancer group.

Neurosurgeon Lee Tessler of Port Washington has been appointed to the national Medical Advisory Board of Voices Against Brain Cancer.

The Medical Advisory Board, which is comprised of volunteers, reviews research grant applications and makes funding recommendations to the organization’s leadership.

Voices Against Brain Cancer is a national not-for-profit organization that has the mission of  finding a cure for brain cancer by advancing scientific research, increasing awareness in the medical community and providing support to patients and their caregivers. 

“It is a great honor to be appointed to this key position with such a dynamic organization,” says Dr. Tessler. “I look forward to working with colleagues on the Medical Advisory Board to recommend those grant applications that stand the best chance of helping people with brain cancer.”

The board is composed of international leaders in brain cancer research and treatment representing such institutions such as Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center. 

A board certified neurosurgeon, Tessler specializes in the treatment of primary brain tumors, metastatic tumors and meningiomas, using stereotactic surgery and radiosurgery. Tessler received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Duke University. He obtained his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. He is currently Chief of Neurotrauma and Chairman of the Neurosurgery Quality Improvement Committee at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Tessler recently received the Community Service Award from the Aleh Foundation, which funds Israel’s largest provider of educational rehabilitative services to severely developmentally disabled children.
