Esther Brunola, Formerly of Port Washington, Dies

Remembered for her generosity of spirit and love of life, family and friends.

Esther Brunola (nee Mayberry) passed away peacefully on December 19, 2012 in Jupiter, Florida, surrounded by her family.  She was 85 years young and a 50-year resident of Port Washington before moving to Jupiter in 2006. Her family and friends will long remember her for her generosity of spirit and her love of life, family and friends.

Esther was born on July 31, 1927 in Glasgow, Scotland. She was the second of four daughters and one son born to Robert and Esther Mayberry.  In 1955, Esther followed her oldest sister who had immigrated to the United States the year before. While Esther always loved her native Scotland, America was her new home. She settled on Long Island and met her husband to be. Esther and Bill married in 1958 and in their nearly 55 years together raised three children in Port Washington. Esther spent many years working at Weber Junior High as a Teachers Assistant, a job she loved.

Esther was actively involved in Cancer Care charities and the Play Troupe of Port Washington. She was a singer, an actress, a lover of opera, a voracious reader and a walking classic movie encyclopedia. Esther knew no strangers – only friends she had not yet met. She was a loving Wife and Mother and an adoring Grandmother.

Esther is survived by her loving husband Bill, devoted daughters Jenifer Carter and Laura Brunola all of Jupiter, Fl.; son Sam (Kelley) of Marietta, GA, beautiful grandchildren Aiden and Gillian, sister Sarah Carr of Mill Valley, CA, sister-in-law Virginia Ban of Connecticut and many nieces, nephews & friends. Esther was predeceased by her parents, brother Robert and sisters Mary and Olivia.

Funeral Arrangements were handled by Aycock Funeral Home, Jupiter, FL.  A Mass of Celebration was held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St Peter Catholic Church, Jupiter, FL. Friends are invited to visit www.aycockfuneralhomejupiter.com to view & sign the Guest Book.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County (www.hpbc.com) in Esther’s Memory.

With special thanks to Jenifer Carter.
