Thomas D. Croci Dies

Friday funeral for the father of Islip Town supervisor; educator once taught in Manhasset.

An educator and the father of Tom Croci, the supervisor of the Town of Islip, was 71. 

Once a teacher at St. Mary’s in Manhasset, Crochi went on to teach at Connetquot High School, where he next became an assistant principal before serving at Cherokee Elementary School, Newsday reported. Later he served as principal at Edith L. Slocum Elementary School.

Croci leaves behind his two children, Tom Croci and Kristina Inserillo, his sister Adele Smithers, his sister and brother-in-law Lucille and Joe Calandra, and two grandchildren, Newsday reported.

Visitation is set from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Main St., in West Sayville. The funeral is at 9:45 a.m. Friday at St. John Nepomucene Roman Catholic Church, 1140 Locust Ave., Bohemia. He will be buried at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jo-Ann C. Croci Foundation, P.O. Box 131, Bohemia, NY 11716, according to Newsday.
