I drove down Main Street today.. and very saddened by the visual  sure sign of a "town" that has way to many empty storefronts and the "new" little hope full  stores that have opened...   look like shacks.. sad and getting shabby.. Please do not now rant that I seem prejudice as to my statement.. but really do you want homeowners who pay a fortune in property tax to   not have a "Main Street" in the town that they have invested in and love at least look decent??  come on fix it.. Chamber of Commerce where have you gone?

Something needs to be done to help small businesses. If people want a Main Street then shop on Main st. Stay out of the big box stores. They price little guys out of business. With the way taxes and rent are on Long Island it is hard for small stores to survive. Holiday shop in town then maybe Main street will survive

Although I wish I could do more shopping on Main St., I will be doing it all online. Why? Ran in to get some change for the meter, came out literally 2 minutes later (street was totally empty--almost no cars) to find a $70 ticket on my windshield. I am absolutely sure someone was hiding, lying in wait, to ambush someone who needed to get change for the meter. Probably ran away so I could not speak to them about it. No, never again.

I left there last spring -- went south. The place was nice 12 years ago but has gone ghetto. Hauppauge is toast. Sell now before a 7-11, fast food joint, walgreens and homeless shelter all open up on top of your house.
