I am encouraging elementary school students to take time to read during the summer. Just because school is over doesn’t mean learning should stop. The 2012 Summer Reading Challenge is part of the New York State Assembly’s commitment to provide a quality education for our students.
With a good book and imagination, you can travel across the world without ever leaving your backyard!
The 2012 Summer Reading Program rewards elementary school students for their efforts during the summer. To receive an excellence in reading certificate from the New York State Assembly, children must read with a parent for 15 minutes a day for at least 40 days through July and August.
