Let your State Senator know you support the Compassionate Care Act.

Legitimate medical studies and convincing anecdotal reports have provided strong evidence that medical marijuana may be effective in treating many serious and debilitating conditions, among them epilepsy. In the case of epilepsy, the medication is an oil made from  CBD (cannabidol), a component of marijuana that has no psychoactivity and will not result in a high.
I am the father of a multiply disabled adult son who suffers from life-threatening epileptic seizures which are not controlled by traditional medication. My son has been on over 33 drugs, none of which has brought him any level of acceptable seizure control.
There is presently pending in Albany a bill for the Compassionate Care Act which would allow New Yorkers with serious and debilitation conditions access to medically supervised medical marijuana. This bill has been passed by the Assembly four times. Unfortunately, the Republican leadership in the State Senate will not allow the bill to come up for a vote, despite a majority of New Yorkers being in favor of legalization.
Hopefully, this blog will reach out to New Yorkers to encourage them to persuade their Republican State Senators to heed the will of their constituents so that New York can join the 20 other enlightened states which have brought relief to their citizens with legal medical marijuana.
