Lets not forget other important issues in Port Washington

Huge utility poles seem to be the topic of discussion lately, but have we forgotten other important issues?  A big concern seems to be that the enormous size of the new utility poles in Port Washington will decrease property values.  I guess  many have neglected to realize that there are other factors which will help to decrease property values or to make Port Washington less desirable to new home owners.  The ever growing number of vacant/ boarded up stores along Main Street do nothing to bring in new businesses.  The long standing "Coming Soon " signs seem to signify that it just takes too long to open a new business in the Town of North Hempstead.  Not a good sign for bringing in new business.  Our Council Woman and town Supervisor need to take swift action to speed up the process of opening a new business so we have what resembles a vitalized not run down Main Street.  I am certain business owners are not prepared for the extensive wait for Town approval to open their establishment.  Consider the restaurant which is opening a second Port Washington location and posted a sign advertising they were "Hiring" a staff.  The sign went up last year and the store front is still boarded up.  Why not give this matter the same attention as those fighting the installation of the large utility poles?  There have been numerous blogs posted about many other problems which make Port Washington look like a lesser then desirable community to do business in or live in and that is just not the case.  Now what would that do to your property values or sales of homes?
