New Traffic Lights at Traffic Circle at Plandome and Stonytown Roads

Can't wait to see how this planned "improvement" creates even worse traffic and accident-waiting-to-happen mayhem -- http://www.antonnews.com/manhassetpress/news/30909-bad-curve-good-curve.html

Some of the Town's traffic engineering leaves a lot to be desired.

Agreed the town's engineers are clueless, but even you Nassau have to agree that something has to be done at the traffic circle! Drivers blow right through the yield signs and I have witnessed several accidents. The circle was probably perfect for when it was designed over 100 years ago but now, there are way too many cars on our roads and Plandome road has become a cut through for people who don't want to sit in traffic on Main Street or Port Blvd. I hope this improves the situation!

Or drivers pass the stop sign on Plandome heading North before the person in front has cleared the "yield" area, due to someone heading East towards Stonytown, leading to gridlock. I've seen that many times, it's amazing just how clueless most drivers are. The current setup is completely inadequate for handling the traffic on Plandome Road, it's grown a lot in the 15 years I've lived here and will only get worse. They ought to convince Plandome Manor to change their speed limit from 25 to 30 to match the limits in Plandome and Plandome Heights, it also just doesn't make sense.

This is a bad idea-- will only create more traffic. Can we get rid of the light on plandome road as you get into Manhasset now? That one has got to go, too.
