OPINION: Thanks Peter Forman

The commissioner of the Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management is a 'godsend,' the author says.

I would like to compliment Peter Forman and his office Staff on their daily messages. I have found Peter's daily calls regarding the progress made and the help available to my peninsula in this awful state of emergency very comforting.

I felt and feel that he has shown a true concern for the well being of this community. I find myself comforted and less anxious with each message I receive.

Peter's phone messages are concise and to the point. He and his staff have been a Godsend.

Sincerely,
Maria Rovegno

I totally agree. Hearing updates has been so helpful for us not to feel too isolated. While the information on these updates has not always been positive or encouraging - it helps knowing someone is there trying to make it a little better just by keeping you in the loop. Thanks Peter Forman ! Maybe he should run LIPA and finally restore all the power !!

The updates are helpful, but it does not change the fact that a significant number for people have no heat, power or hot water for 11 days and counting. This morning;'s announcment said power to 90%, only 90% of the peninsula will not be restored until the middle to end of NEXT WEEK. We have no water damage in our neighborhood. We also have no LIPA trucks. According to the LIPA web-site not a single house in PW and North PW has been restored today. Not one. LIPA won;t pick up the phone and 311 is useless. My house was 48 degrees last night. LIPA needs to be held accountable and not use a minor snow storm as an excuse. Let's move some LIPA exec and Cuomo's people to houses with no power. Maybe that will speed things us. Peter's updates are helpful, but they don't get anyone on-line

I totally think the messages and information were fabulous and very informative...Friends of mine in other locations have no idea what is going on...Mr. Forman has done a wonderful job as have some of the other public officials in our area....As for LIPA, Not so much !!!

If I ever meet Mr. Forman, I'm going to give him a big hug. His updates have been open, honest, and helpful. You can definitely sense his extreme frustration with LIPA, and I feel like he has PW's back.

Absolutely agree. Great Job Mr. Forman and the EOM. Thanks very much for working hard to keep information coming, which was especially appreciated when my home didn't have power. We do now, and we know how fortunate we are.

Last night was not just a small snowstorm. This put them back at least another day. I drove home from work last night and it was the worst commute ever. Many of the trees and limbs that had not fallen during the hurricane did so last nite as well as several new power lines. Driving down Searingtown and Port Blvd. the trees standing has limbs and leaves lowered to car window height from the weight of the snow and often I had to drive in the lane of oncoming traffic in order to continue...This Nor'easter under normal conditions would not have been much more than a snow storm...but this was not the case..I for one was extremely happy to have made it home safely...Just saying.

Peter has been fantastic. We are the only community that I know of that has had so much information about the recovery effort. The emails, texts and phone calls have been incredibly valuable throughout this crisis.

I was stuck on the 4:48 LIRR train out of Penn Station that was stopped behind powerlines at Little Neck. I had my IPad and took a chance and emailed to the North Shore Alert email I had received asking if they knew what was going on. Peter Forman responded!! He took the time to tell us what he knew. I was sitting with some folks from Great Neck who were amazed as they had not received one phonecall or email since the hurricane (Peter Forman's office supports Port Washington and Manhasset). They asked me to ask him about shelters and again Peter Forman responded. He has been so fantastic and I for one would vote for him if he ran for public office! THANK YOU PETER FORMAN!!!!!
