Port Summer Show Hits High Notes With 'My Favorite Year'

Port Washington community theater at its very best.

It’s 1954, the hey-day of live television, a time when actors and comedy writers knew that whatever happened on camera would be seen in real time before millions of viewers.

So you didn’t want to screw up.

That’s part of the scenario behind “My Favorite Year,” a Port Summer Show production, which opened Thursday night at .

The cast of this musical comedy about a newbie television writer and a wayward guest star who could bring the show down at any moment keeps the audience entertained with a talented cast and 39-piece orchestra who deliver first-rate performances all around.

Those who haven't seen the show yet are in for a theatrical tour de force right here in Port Washington. You'll likely leave the show humming some of the catchy score.

The one that fell over - that was my daughter! Her sister was one of the leads! A great show. A great evening of musical theater. I love Port.

I'd love to see some coverage of the 40th anniversary reunion activities, as I wasn't able to participate, and was part of that original crew decades ago!
