Rescuers responded to an accident on Shore Road and Manorhaven Blvd, on Thursday at approximately 3:15 p.m.
According to Assistant Chief James Salerno, there were three cars involved.
"Apparently one of the two main vehicles involved ran a red light," he said, adding that at this time he was unable to determine which vehicle ran the light.
One woman had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Port Washington Fire Department.
"Apparently, the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening," Salerno said.
Traffic was blocked from Manorhaven Blvd. to Soundview Dr., according to one eye witness.
Rescuers "deserve a big 'kudos' for what they did in getting that woman out of her vehicle," she said.
