Bank Robbery Attempt Monday in Port Washington

Cops say, homeless man arrested after attempting heist at Capital One Bank.

A homeless man attempted to rob a Port Washington bank Monday, according to Port Washington police.

Detectives say, Victor Williams, 19, entered the Capital One Bank located at 1020 Port Washington Blvd. and presented a demand note to a teller at 5:50 p.m.  

Williams fled on foot without any the cash before being located by police at the Port Washington Train Station. He was placed under arrest without incident.

Three employees and one customer were in the bank at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.

Williams is charged with attempted robbery third degree and will be arraigned on July 23 at First District Court in Hempstead.
