Community Prays for Injured Child

Young girl hurt in sledding incident at country club.

Prayer circles have been started for an 8-year-old girl involved in a sledding incident.

According to Nassau County Police, at 2:23 p.m. Sunday, the girl, while sledding at Plandome Country Club, collided with a tree. She experienced head trauma and was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Though police had no update on the girl’s status at this time, the Port Washington community, including members of St. Peters, Community Synagogue and St. Stephens, is joining in prayer for her recovery and thoughts for her family.

I was sledding with my twin 6-year old there on Saturday. There were a lot of people sledding and felt like an accident waiting to happen. I would've never expected something as serious as this. Our prayers go out to the girl and her family. PLEASE - If you are going to go sledding put a helmet on your child.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sydney and her family. Our Brownie Troop 477 was praying and wishing her well today. Tomorrow, I will have my 3rd grade religion class at St. Peter's say special prayers for her. God Bless you, Sydney.

Neighbors: This was a terrible freak accident. Our thoughts and prayers are needed for these families. Eric, your comment was hurtful and not necessary. We were there on Sunday when the accident happened. On Sunday there were only about 10 families there and everyone took turns. It is so sad what happened to the girls. It was no one’s fault, not the hill, not the people. Let’s keep the thoughts positive for these little girls. The conditions on Saturday you were describing were caused by people not having hill educate and not sledding down the middle and walking up the sides. Thank you to the Port Washington Police and Fire Medics for helping us all every day.
