Cops Nab LIRR Bandit
Police say the suspect was wanted for three separate incidents on the Port Washington line.
A 20-year-old man was accused of Tuesday of stealing from Long Island Railroad passengers on the Port Washington line
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority say Thomas Gray of 214th Place is charged with stealing an iPhone on Jan. 26, an iPod on Jan. 6 and a purse on Feb. 19, 2011.
In the Jan. 26 incident, a woman on the 7:55 a.m. train from Port Washington reported her iPhone stolen, according to the MTA. The iPhone was later recovered using an app that tracked the missing phone.

On Monday, an LIRR crew recognized the suspect who was aboard the 10:49 a.m. train from Port Washington. Gray refused to pay the train fare, and was asked to leave the train at Bayside, the MTA said. The train crew notified the MTA Police, who then apprehended the suspect without incident.
Gray is charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, one count of petit larceny, three counts of criminal possession of stolen property and one count of theft of service.
