Cops: Pair to Be Arrested in Nail Salon Robberies

Man and woman accused of armed robberies across Long Island.

Authorities expect that an Islip Terrace man and woman will be charged with five heists at nail salons across Nassau County.

The robberies occurred between Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 in Valley Stream, Franklin Square, Wantagh and New Hyde Park, police said.

The pair was already arrested for nail salon robberies in Suffolk.

Suffolk County Police charged Salvatore Scimeca, 55, on Wednesday with four counts of first degree robbery, as well as counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and first degree attempted robberies at salons in December in Islip, Islip Terrace, East Islip and Copiague.

Elise Sandberg, 34, is charged with four counts of first degree robbery and one count of first degree attempted robbery. She, took is expected to be charged with additional robberies in Nassau.

Scimeca and Sandberg, who both live at 255 Islip Boulevard in Islip Terrace, were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
