Huntington Station

Suffolk County police detectives are investigating a burglary that occurred at Macys, about 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said a glass entry door at the Whitman Shops store was broken and jewelry was taken. No further information was immediately available.

Westbury

A Staten Island man was arrested in Old Westbury on August 10 at 10:30 p.m. for allegedly impersonating an officer. According to police, a highway patrol bureau police officer observed Conrad Cassanova, age 43 of 121 Circle Loop Drive operating a 2002 BMW westbound on the Long Island Expressway in the vicinity of Exit 39. The defendant failed to maintain a single lane of traffic by crossing over pavement markings. A stop was conducted and the defendant identified himself as an Amtrak police officer. The officer became suspicious when Cassanova produced a badge and identification card that did not identify him as being a police officer. When questioned the defendant repeatedly stated he was an Amtrak police officer. An investigation was conducted and it was determined that the defendant was a civilian employee of Amtrak. Cassanova was placed into custody. He was charged with second degree criminal impersonation and failure to use a designated lane of traffic and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on August 11.

Farmingdale

A Bellmore man was arrested Saturday after allegedly flying his plane at altitudes of 200 feet back in June near Kennedy High School. According to Nassau County detectives, around 2:50 p.m. on June 17, Marc Capus, 49, operated his 1972 Cessna, twin-engine propeller aircraft at altitudes below the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) minimum safe altitude. The defendant flew his aircraft over Bellmore in the vicinity of Kennedy High School at altitudes of 200 to 400 feet, as tracked by the FAA NY TRACON. The defendant then landed his plane at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, where he was identified to Nassau County Air Bureau police by control tower personnel, police said. Seventh Squad detectives arrested Capus Saturday at his residence with the assistance of the Federal Aviation Administration. He is being charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree.

Northport

A Northport man has been arrested in connection with a rash of recent car break-ins in the Northport area, say Suffolk County Police. Dillon Noseda, 23, was arrested at his home on Aug. 10 and charged with six counts of petty larceny, two counts of grand larceny and one count of endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly broke into a number of cars between Aug. 6 and 9. Items stolen included credit cards, jewelry, car chargers, and keys. Noseda was allegedly toting a child in a stroller while going through unlocked cars in one incident.

Commack

Jennie Hernandez, 18, of Lindenhurst was arrested and charged with petit larceny on July 30. At 4:18 p.m., Hernandez was caught stealing merchandise from a Walmart in Commack, police said. Along with her was Allison Bailey, 19, of Copiague, who was arrested and charged with petit larceny as well.

Half Hollow Hills

Suffolk County Police have arrested four residents who are said to have in order to steal their cell phones last month.According to the police report, the driver held a gun up to one of the boys, demanding that the teens empty their pockets and give up their cell phones. Three cell phones were taken, according to the report. The four charged are:

  • Robert C. Jones, 18, of Wheatley Heights
  • Lonnie Elliselder, 22, of Dix Hills
  • Stanley Pierre, 22, of Dix Hills
  • Samantha Debetta, 18, of Dix Hills

Port Jefferson

A 24-year-old man was assaulted and robbed on Friday on the platform at the according to a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesperson. Suffolk police responded to a call at 11:50 p.m. about a man who had been assaulted by a group of people and then robbed at the LIRR station off of Route 112 in Port Jefferson. The investigation was turned over to the MTA police to handle. to read more.

Riverhead

Riverhead resident Steven Tracy, 46, was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree after police alleged he punched his girlfriend in the face, causing a laceration above her left eye and a bump on her head.

Crime Alert

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Second Precinct Crime Section are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the two male subjects who stole merchandise from the Sears department store in Elwood. On June 18, at approximately 4:50 PM, two men entered the Sears department store located at 4000 Jericho Turnpike in Elwood. The two men took the escalator to the second floor, walked over to the bedding department, and took a king sized bedding set worth $210.00 from the display. The suspects went back down the escalator and walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise. One subject was described as a white male, approximately 30 to 35 years old and he had a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing glasses and had on jeans and a long sleeved, button down Polo brand shirt. The other subject was white with a tan complexion and several tattoos. He was wearing jeans and a long sleeved, plaid button down shirt.
