Long Beach
Long Beach police went on a high-speed chase Thursday night that ended with the wanted motorist plowing his car into a police cruiser and knocking it into seven other vehicles in the Canals neighborhood. Jabori Gibson, 21, of Roosevelt, who police characterize as a violent drug dealer with a record, was arrested and charged with several violations: reckless driving, reckless endangerment, assault, criminal possession of stolen property, fleeing a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug.
Massapequa
Robbers tied up and beat a man inside his East Massapequa home early Monday, before they were arrested, police said. The incident happened at 12:17 a.m. as Louis Hines, 24, and Dashawn Combs, 25, of Copiague and Herman Monroe of Amityville allegedly entered the Francine Avenue home through an unlocked rear door. The 22-year-old victim was home alone and the three men tied him up and struck him in the head and face, cops said. The robbers took two flat screen TVs, jewelry, two iPhones, car keys and an unknown amount of cash, before fleeing the scene in the victim's 2010 Nissan. Suffolk County Police spotted the suspects in Amityville a short time later and found the car nearby, police said. The other stolen items weren't found, police said. The three men were charged with robbery, burglary, and unlawful imprisonment, police said.
East Garden City
An employee at a limo company's storage yard was held at gunpoint while several suspects robbed the trailers in East Garden City early Friday morning. According to detectives, a man working at Designerlimo Company storage yard was approached by a masked man who displayed a handgun and ordered the victim to lie on the floor and not move. The victim waited approximately 15 minutes before he looked out the window and saw the thief, along with four or five others, leaving the yard through a hole in the fence. The victim discovered an undetermined amount of tools were missing from trailers in the yard.
Plainview
Nassau detectives are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred in Plainview on Thursday afternoon. According to detectives, a man, 5’10” tall, medium build, wearing a stocking type mask entered at 720 Old Country Road about 12:45 p.m. and walked behind the pharmacy counter. He began to look at bottles of assorted pharmaceuticals on the store shelves but left without taking anything. He was spotted fleeing the area by car.
West Babylon
The Suffolk County Police Department are investigating the death of Rashad Capers, 18, of West Babylon, early Sunday morning. Police were called to 568 Centerwood Street at around 1:30 a.m. after multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots and finding a man lying in the street. They found Capers lying in the roadway near 568 Centerwood Street. According to police, Capers had been shot a short distance away at 25 St. John Place.
Northport
Justin Daniels, 20, of East Northport and James Shepardson, 18, of Northport, were arrested on Aug. 27 and charged with third degree assault with intent after they allegedly attacked another man on Main Street around midnight Aug. 26. The man suffered a broken nose and his face was severely swollen around his left eye and mouth. He reported his two alleged assailants from Huntington Hospital.
Greenport
The Detective Division is investigating a stabbing that took place on Sunday in Greenport, police said. A 23-year-old man was stabbed once to the abdomen by an unknown subject and then transported himself to where he was treated, police said.
Sayville
A Sayville man pleaded not guilty to five counts of illegal surveillance activity Thursday. Christian Lee, 24, was first arrested May 23 for allegedly installing a camera in a women’s employee bathroom at a Fire Island Pines bar and taping bathroom user activity on a PC, according to Suffolk Police.
