The Port Washing Police are more concerned with bicycle stings then actually doing police work, what a bad joke. My God father was a Sargent here in town as well as my father being a police officer locally. This police force is a bad joke. I am thankful they are all passed and do t have to see the inadequaciesnof these bozos!

What a horrible thing to say; these are our first responders. We live in SP and the SPPD were nothing short of terrific during Hurricane Sandy, and our experiences with PWPD have been equally positive. Until such time you man up , bear arms and put someone else's best interests in front of your own families, you should keep your negativity to yourself. This is not what we want to teach our children and you should be ashamed of yourself.

What police work should they be doing? I haven't seen a single bicycle sting in the nearly 6 years I have lived in Port.

Lets start with basic traffic enfocement and speeding. It is so funny to hear the "entitled" Port Washington residents believe that everything is just fine and never needs any basic improvement. Heads in the clouds.

Amen brother!

Amen to The Clam Digger's comment! The Port Police District and PWFD do nothing for us! Both the PWPD & PWFD are JOKES

Completely accurate comments. Now we wouldn't want our kids to think that anything is actually amiss or needs improvement in our beloved Port Washington where everything including the PWPD are idyllic. Joke.

Todd ..... I was not refering to the Sands Point Police Department or negating the job which was done during Sandy . All departments went the extra mile to ensure our safety and return to our lives. My reference was to the lack of respect , poor follow up and insignificance given to people's converns we residents of Port Washington are treated with . Namaste'

No one really cares what you think....

...but it's funny that you think you matter....

NYB- Are you just pouting like a little kid because I'm not the only one with the same view of this town's joke police district?
Archie Bunker December 29, 2012 at 01:31 PM
Not to change the subject, but why does this town need three separate police forces? One should be enough to patrol this town
justanotherday December 29, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Well technically "this" town is only being served by 1 police force, Port Wash. Joke -- Sorry I mean Police-- Dist. Sands Point by SPPD, and Manorhaven and Flower Hill by NCPD. You really only see NCPD in PW when they're heading down to Manorhaven. The only time Port needs services from NCPD is when they need special services such as their Emergency Services Unit or Crime Scene or k9

And why do we need so many village governments in 1 community?
NYB January 23, 2013 at 07:16 AM
I wish you would focus on legitimate complaints rather than whining about stuff you don't understand. There are problems, and you don't seem to know about any of them.

Amen to the lack of respect and poor follow up and insignificance given to people's real concerns we residents are treated with. This was not always the case, PWPD officers used to respond to residents calls and concerns in a careing fashion and as quickly as possible, I can personally atest to this, having PWPD police officers as members of my family for over 30 years. There's something wrong with this picture, when the town I have lived in since a young child no longer feels safe to be in due to the lack of response from the local police department when you place a call to them.. sixtyplus
