Seaford 

John Capano, an off-duty federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), was shot and killed when he intervened in a drugstore robbery Saturday in Seaford. The suspected robber was also killed.  Capano was picking up cancer medication for his elderly father shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday when James McGoey of Hampton Bays entered the store demanding cash and drugs, prompting the ATF agent and two other men to confront the suspect as he fled out the front door. A shootout ensued and both Capano and McGoey were killed. Police have not released details on who shot Capano.

Nassau County police arrested a restaurant owner on charges of sexual abuse.

According to Second Squad detectives, Tom Lam, 39, of Flushing, the co-owner of   at 5032 Jericho Tpke., Commack, and 7967 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury, called a 24-year-old female employee into an office at the Woodbury restaurant to collect her tips.

While the two were alone in the office, Lam reportedly perpetrated forcible sexual contact with the victim. The woman was able to escape and notify the police. Lam is  charged with first-degree sexual abuse and is due in Nassau County First District Court on Jan. 18.

An Elmont man was arrested on charges of assault and drug possession after a  pursuit last week. Third Precinct detectives reported that they found numerous small wax bags of heroin on him.

A man was robbed at gunpoint early in the morning on December 26 in Roslyn Heights. According to Nassau County detectives, the victim, who is 20, was walking from his vehicle on Edwards Street when he was approached by two men, each wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The subjects, one holding a silver hand gun, demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone. Detectives ask anyone with information to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

Roslyn Harbor

Baby Jesus has disappeared from the Nativity scene in front of St. Mary’s  Church in Roslyn Harbor.

Sixth Squad detectives said the theft occurred sometime between Thursday evening and early Friday morning. They say that church officials are requesting only the safe return of the figure.

Huntington

Three people were arrested for obstruction of governmental administration, outside the Paramount Theater in Huntington, according to police. Anthony Mazzola, 24, of Connecticut, Jenna Natuzzi, 24, and Roslynn Natuzzi, 52, both from Old Brookville, were charged, police say.
